Usability

Assessing usability

Meera's UX Portfolio

Projects

For this project, I was tasked to assess the usability of the Louis Vuitton website, identifying issues and providing potential solutions to the issues.

This was a team project and each of us recruited a particpiant to conduct the evaluations on, then results were collated.

HEURISTIC EVALUATION

A heuristic evaluation of the most commonly completed tasks on the website was done. Issues were identified against the 10 usability

heuristics and the severity determined.

Three main issues were identified:

1) Filters don't work for all items —> Broken heuristic: Consistency and standards

1) Email information isn't validated—> Broken heuristic: Error prevention

1) Previously searched items in the nav bar are not saved—> Broken heuristic: Recognition rather than recall

QUANTITATIVE USER TESTING

Quantitative testing was done with participants to gather statistically meaningful data.

6 participants were given 3 tasks to complete, they were recorded and the data analysed under

the 5 categories; task time, task completion, SUS score, errors made and lostness.

RESULTS

The results were analysed and task 2 was found to be the least efficient and least effective. I then moved onto qualitative testing to find out the WHY behind the participants choices.

QUALITATIVE USER TESTING

To carry out the qualitative testing, the users were given a scenario to complete and were asked to use the 'Think out loud' method as they completed

the task.

THE SCENARIO:

Two of your best friends are getting married next month. You and your friends are planning to pool money together to buy them gifts.

You're planning to give a Louis Vuitton bag to your close female friend and a jacket to your male friend.

RESULTS

DATA ANALYSIS

The data was compiled together under

effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.

Insights were drawn out and a matrix was used to

prioritise them.

ACCESSIBILITY ANALYSIS

The Wave tool and the WCAG 2.2 guidelines were used to assess the accessibility of the website.
